Holland and Knight and Thompson and Knight are examining a consolidation that could close this late spring, the law offices declared Friday.

Thompson and Knight is the more modest firm with around 300 attorneys. Joined incomes would be more than $1.2 billion, putting the consolidated firm near the country's best 25 law offices.
